Anthony Capuano
global
Anthony Capuano became president and CEO of Marriott International in 2021, leading the world's largest hotel company with over 9,000 properties, 1.7 million rooms, across 30 brands in 140 countries. Marriott's brand portfolio is the most comprehensive in the industry: luxury (Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, EDITION, W Hotels, JW Marriott), premium (Westin, Sheraton, Le Méridien, Marriott Hotels), and select-service (Courtyard, Fairfield, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites). Marriott operates primarily through an asset-light model — it manages and franchises hotels owned by third-party investors, earning management and franchise fees without bearing the capital cost of property ownership. This model generates high returns on invested capital, consistent cash flow, and significant operating leverage. The Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, with over 200 million members, is one of the largest and most valuable loyalty programs in travel, creating enormous customer lock-in and direct booking advantages. Capuano's execution on RevPAR (revenue per available room) growth, net unit growth (opening new hotels), Bonvoy program monetization, and capital return to shareholders through buybacks and dividends are the primary drivers of the stock.
