Anne Simpson spent nearly 20 years at the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), the largest US pension fund, where she served as Investment Director of Board Governance and Strategy. She was one of the foremost architects of ESG integration in institutional investment management, developing frameworks for how pension funds should engage with portfolio companies on issues of governance, climate risk, and social factors. Her work helped establish CalPERS as a global leader in investor engagement and ESG standards. She has subsequently applied this expertise at Franklin Templeton as Managing Investment Director, Sustainability.
