Adam Posen
International monetary policy, inflation targeting research, quantitative easing advocacy, trade policy economics, G7 central bank policy frameworks
Adam Posen has been President of the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) since 2013. Before PIIE, he was an external member of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee from 2009 to 2012, where he was a notable dovish voice advocating for additional quantitative easing during the post-crisis recovery. His academic research, particularly his book on Japan's deflationary experience in the 1990s, was highly influential in shaping how policymakers thought about liquidity traps and the policies needed to avoid them. He has also been a prominent voice on trade policy, foreign exchange manipulation, and the international monetary system. PIIE under his leadership has become one of the most influential economic policy think tanks in the world. His continued research on the political economy of protectionism and its costs for consumers and businesses remains highly relevant to investors monitoring global trade dynamics.
